Doesn't matter much/if at all. But its a bug

 

The boxes next to chat have no beetle or anything like other people have said inside of them.

Not a huge issue but it definately does matter to our newer users who may not know what these buttons are without those icons being there. Thanks for the report - added to list.

Its not the aspect ratio but I think it may be a plugin on my chrome browser. When I opened in incognito, I see them.

None of these extensions would interfer except maybe adblock. But that is used in incognito aswell.

Very specific bug. I can't reproduce it, therefore I can't fix it. Seems this specific issue only on your side. Anyway I see that you already have find a way to workaround it somehow. Try to use AdBlock instead of ABP.

Clearing the web browser cache with CTRL+F5 is what fixed this for me.

 

Edit: As for the friend icon not appearing, that's something different.

FTR, this will be down to browser caching of the icon sprite we use. I'll put in a task to avoid it in future

I'm a fool! Of course, old version of the icon sprite is stuck somewhere in cache. Need to adjust .htaccess on a server by defining expiration dates for files.
