From what I understand, the code is such that it shows the player count for the 2 regions with the most players. How about a menu that pops up when he user hovers or clicks on the number of players that shows the entire region breakdown of online players? This would avoid having too much clutter on the main page but keeps the information available to everyone.

Pretty sure it's just hardcoded to EU and NA. However the implementation you describe is pretty cool.
