I am definitely going to get a virtual reality headset eventually, and I was wondering if using it would be considered cheating. One could argue that it gives the player an unfair advantage because you can use head-tracking and see in three dimensions more easily. Another could argue that the same having an ultra-wide monitor or an expensive gaming mouse will give similar advantages, but are not banned, and therefore using a VR headset should not be considered cheating.

I don't think so. Cheating usually comes with people modifying their games to artificially inflate their scores - triggerbots, aimbots, speedhacks, etc. There is no reason why a vr headset would do those things. Sure, you're able to see more, but will that artificially improve your gameplay? I don't think it would.

It's in the game, therefore it isn't cheating.

3d is a disadvantage because your eyes have to constantly refocus, and the cross hair depth changes. I love my 3d vision glasses but I don't use them in competitive games.

It might not be a big deal to casual players, but it certainly isn't considered cheating.

I wonder if the refresh is like 120mhz?  Could hurt more than help.
