When a lobby enters “Almost Ready” state as seen by TF2Center system message in the chat window, if somebody fails to ready up in time then their slot will be vacated. When this happens but the lobby has not reverted to an open state, the vacant slot remains available to a player who has readied up, in that when the player’s cursor hovers over the slot, it turns green as if it can be selected. However in this case clicking on the slot does not do anything.
