I've been intrested in the competetive side of tf2 for awhile now and after what i call "practicing" (Watching videos of comp games and rollouts. And also playing in High-ish level pubs) I was wondering...Should i start now? Or wait till i get more playtime?

All I could say is you might want to stay away from med at start, since it's mostly game sense. Otherwise, go ahead! That's what TF2C is for!

Start playing! Just make sure you join mumble and listen to the team as well as watch players to get more experience.

Have an open mind and be ready to learn! Ask for feedback at the end of games to see what you should focus on and already doing good at. As long as you're not on a team with a-holes you should get some decent input.

You're more than ready to start playing. Make sure to read some articles on comp.tf aswell for some useful insight on the classes, maps, tactics and etc.

I recommend starting as the Pocket Soldier since it'll be a slower and calmer experience for you. If you prefer hitscan classes, try playing a Scout who is passive on mid.

You can start whenever you want, it's never too early to go competitive!

I wouldn't really recommend it because the odds are big that you will probably run into some elitist group of people who have 5000+ hours on the game, and are really against people who are new to the competetive scene and whatknot.

I resemble that.

I promise that I am not elitist and I stick up for people in lobbies that are trying their best.  I think a lot of the better people in lobbies don't take lobbies too seriously.

If the concern is that lobbies might be uncomfortable, find a friend or two and join with them.

I've been told the opposite Matt, (If you're cool with me calling you that) I was told to be medic off the bat so I learn game sense right away.

(please do call me Matt)

Well I know that people can get pretty upset if a completely new player joins med. Although med is great for getting game sense, you need to have some in the first place. Also, you might get the wrong reflexes from pubs when it comes to medic-ing.

Go ahead and play, just ignore a bunch of people that will tell you that you can't, it's just because they want a team full of guys with 5000 hours and 500 lobbies so they can smash the other team. That's how most Australian lobbies are anyway.

Ye, go ahead! Even if you aren't that good, lobbies will still improve on your skills as a *insert class here*  ;)

Why not. I started at 75 hours. You have to find a personal mentor or "buddy" and try it out.
