Hi guys,

At around 22:30 CEST (4:20EST) TF2center.com was hit by a DDoS attack.  This appears to be a continuation of a similar earlier attack.  We fully recovered from the earlier attack, although we did see a degree of service denial for a few hours.

TF2C has taken care to set up our infrastructure to be very resilient in the face of such attacks.   However the individuals responsible for this most recent wave of Internet crime are willing to spend a considerable amount of money and effort in order to try to deny service to our site to our community.

To say that we the staff are disappointed would be a HUGE understatement.  No doubt the individuals thought that this timely attack would be a large setback to TF2Center.  They have missed out on the fact that TF2Center is a community of TF2 Players and that their attack hurts the community on a whole a lot more than it hurts the technical side of TF2C operations.

As mentioned above, we have a certain degree of resiliency against such attacks.  Any large or small scale service is susceptible to this kind of attack. Instead of only recovering again, we have made the decision to upgrade to an infrastructure that can best this type of Internet attack for now and for the future.  Because of this, we have chosen to retool and spend the amount of time required to perform these moves in a quality manner.

Our service will be unavailable during this retooling time period.  It will be more than hours from now, and possibly into a few days.

Again, we are disappointed in the situation brought on by criminals against not only us, but our supportive community.  This activity will make us stronger as a website.  We look forward to playing with you in a short period of time.
