Hey there, I played my first 2 games today (Medic) and I got flamed kinda hard!

I had always the highest score (don't know if that matters) and I really gave my best.

I tried to heal everybody and use my übers in the right situation. I felt very good, but it looks

like that I wasn't good enough for some players. They always reported me and flamed me. I am a very

good pub medic and want to improve my skill by practice. I can't practice when I am always getting flamed,

they should stop complaining and continue playing and give me constructive critic.

What do you guy say?

-thanks in advance, iRavage

There's always a few that ruin things... Your best bet is to file a report in the ban request. We may not always be able to ban the person in question immediately if it is for just flaming, but if we have reports from multiple people and we can search back, then it paints a better picture to remove someone from the site.

Take screenshots, demos and a server status output. Also the lobby number it occured on would help too!

Okay, that's cool. I thought being rude was a general problem in the tf2 community. But it looks like,

it where only those few people. I'll play a few more 6v6 and post my experience!

Just running by and seen this, Medic's seem to be hated on sometimes when you lose ._." Well anyways, Don't let that thrown you off from playing medic!

I feel your pain, I really do, but don't give up ;)

I'm a medic main who's very new to the scene (been on this site since December 2013) and I also occasionally get flamers and ragers. Best thing to do is to ignore their abuse, mute anybody particular repugnant, take any constructive criticism that you get and just try and do your best.

You need to get used to people raging at you to a certain extent though as medic is possibly the most important class in the team (along with the demo) and so when you mess up, the whole team will know about it. It's also easy for bad players (especially pockets) to blame you for their mistakes as well.

I suggest that you try and make some friends with better players who seem patient/nice and/or willing to help you. I've made so many high division friends on tf2center and some of them have been instrumental to my progress. This is also a nice way of finding players to play mixes, scrims and even form teams with. These are even better than lobbies for practicing medic as they'll always have better comms and better players in them, plus there are a lot of decent, high division players in tf2center you'll end up playing against at some point.

Also always join mumble regardless of whether it's required or not. Even if you can't use your mic for whatever reason it's useful to listen out for calls of enemy positions and to listen for people asking for heals. If people in your team are not in mumble then sometimes asking for them to join mumble in in-game chat will get a few people joining.  At the very least you should aim to get your pocket in mumble because he will be protecting you 90% of the time. Demo and roamer are also very important and scouts would be nice but not as important in my opinion.

If you really want to become better at comp tf2 then it'll take a long time but it's a very rewarding experience in my opinion.

Also here are some great guides/general resources on playing comp tf2 medic. It's very much an art form of it's own:

Hope that this was helpful for you ;)

Oh and you can also view your stats for each game on http://logs.tf/ or just google "logs.tf". If you can't find your latest match then look for it on sizzling stats (http://sizzlingstats.com/) as it can be on there sometimes.

I found that when in mumble, there isn't that much hate (though I only play EU HL). If people are saying they don't get enough heals, then they should be asking for them over mumble. It seems ridiculous to me to play comp without communicating.

Also, if they're being rude, tell them to chill out because its only a lobby. I'd much rather loose a lobby while having fun then steam rolling with no one in mumble.

Medic is a hard class and is really important, so I can understand people getting fustrated. Also, some people play medic before they know the game. But everyone should keep in mind that Lobbies are to get better, and its better for everyone if instead of insulting players they give advice. Admitting that you're bad or the mistakes you made generally makes rude players chill. Then again, I'm coming from an EU HL, so I can only assume what I say makes sense for other comp scenes.

To be honest most problems are fixed when people actually make use of mumble. I don't know how people can expect a reasonable level of play that they are used to from their team when they just run around not in mumble.

Sorry to revive such a old topic. But problem is far to be over:

Problem of hate on medic is far to be over... Hate on medic... Why?

Last night, I was playing a 6v6 lobby with unknown players on badland. The team quickly turned to have a strange composition with a pyro and a sniper. The demo and the scout were sticking to the meta and made a decent job. Unfortunately the only solly was overextending frequently with the scout. As I was filling the usual last medic slot, I did not consider bring everyone on mumble or asking other players to change class. The result was that we had very aggressive mid failing because of bad rollout. Then it was difficult to stop the other team because no cohesion and no real pocket to heal. So few heal, lot of player disadvantages and almost no uber.

In top of that, during the game I missed some arrows, which were important to support push. I also dropped uber cause of an unclear composition of the team. 5-0 was logic.

But I was not expecting to be insulted via voice by the demo. For sure he tried to report me, ask me to desinstall the game and kill myself.

This behavior is relatively frequent and reflect how aggressive (in the wrong way) are some players here.

Tfcenter claim to be a platform between pub and competitive for friendly and respectful playes. Please when you see this behavior support a bit more medics in future. Or at least try to calm down players.

Cheers

Hey, I'm very sorry to hear about this, there is no right for other players to tell you to 'kill yourself'. According to TF2C rules: "Language with the potential to cause offence to other players, including but not limited to: general derogatory language, directed derogation, discrimination, sexual language, or general disrespect towards other players." is against the rules. You may report that player at your own discretion. Playing medic can be tough as it can be seen as the most important class and can change the tide of games. I hope this doesn't come upon you again! Haters gonna hate. Have fun!

It's been fun, thanks for the ride.

the "local mute" option in mumble can be your best friend sometimes :)

Yes you are right. That is sad but that helps to mute players being rude.

I also have to admit that tf2center is doing a great job to stop this behavior by recruiting nice, friendly and competant admin; but also via their complex system of !rep and ban.

Would love to see it apply in the future tf2 matchmaking update...

I recently had my 5th lobby, and the first few weren't my best. Luckily for me I haven't had any trouble, yet.

I suggest to just ignore the people who tell you how to play the game, just play. If you have a basic understanding of how to play the game mode you're playing, whether it be 6s or HL, you're good to go. As long as you do your part in the team and know how to play the class you have chosen.

My advice would be, is if you're new to this - DON'T go for 6s first try. You can if you want, but I recommend play HL since it's more similar to pubs if you came from them like I did.

Thank you, I may not be the best at this myself but I have certainly learnt from my mistakes, I started a 6s lobby at first and got demolished, I played some hl as Scout for a bit and went back to a 6s lobby and did fine. Just, I need to work on my DM.

Back onto the subject of rude players, I ran into someone who was the epitome of a ego filled maniac in one HL lobby a few days ago, he was on my team however and constantly swore at the enemy teams when we won a few rounds.

I don't remember his name exactly, I'll have to have a look at the logs, but yeah. Rude people are quite common
