This will prevent using alts to join lobbies when the user has been banned.

Unfortunately, it will also make it impossible to manually invite players to the game if getting a sub through TF2Center doesn't work, unless the leader is given an option for that or the lobbies are changed to allow joining directly without clicking for a sub.

I don't think it's possible in the current engine. However, it would work if tf2center was to kick players who were not part of the lobby, same problem solved.

This seems like a good idea because it would kill two birds with one stone:

- People will no longer be able to invite their friends to a lobby that was full and have them take people's spots that they shouldn't be taking

- People with would have to join lobbies with their actual account. This would make it much easier to ban hackers from tf2center as they can't hide behind a bunch of alts without getting banned as soon as it is noticed.

Wouldn't this prevent the players in a lobby from getting a sub in themselves should no one join from the sub request sent to TF2Center? Quite a few times in a lobby I've grabbed someone who I'm in mumble with at the time to join the lobby to play as a sub.

Indeed; therefore a sub-join-link should be provided to that player so he can be an official sub.

To add further to Masternoob, the system only works if you use the system correctly so all player data and states can be accounted for. Manually inviting players can cause the system to not recognise players correctly and incorrectly report a player. The substitute system is there to make things easy for everyone. You can right click the link and copy the URL to give to any player you wish as long as they are signed into TF2Center and are eligible to play.

Perhaps putting a button on the lobby page that puts the invitation URL on the clipboard will make this more obvious to less technically minded users.
