Now ALs have a prize pool. To join an AL you pay 1 scrap, and the top 8 players of the winner team recives 2 scraps each (top 5 for 6s, aka all players except 1). I know that his will never happens, but it would make players way more motivated to win the match, as well as a profit of 2 scraps for each AL made, meaning that you can make them free. 2 scraps of profit sounds  If 2 scraps for every lobby are not enough you can ofc increase the buy-in (the payout will still be 2x the buy-in for all the winner team's players except for the bottom scorer's one that will go to TF2C).

Well, I will probably surprise you - we are going to make ALs more interesting and competitive but in a slightly different way, without involving items. Expect the news very soon  ;)

Thats a very cool suggestion! I think the asian league works in a similar way where you have to pay some metal to participate
the bad thing is that id expect some people to stack AL if they find out theres a prize.

Stacking shouldn't be an issue, as ALs still are intended to be autobalanced. Although the idea itself wouldnt be viable. Metal transfer is just too complicated with all the trading bullshit.

The thing with the prizes are STeam servers being down a lot and trades not going through.   Then there is the issue with escrow.

Wouldn't be that complicated if you work with sites like bp.tf or that other site that does gambling with matches and stuff.

That part wouldnt be to bad but what would be bad is depending on steam trade servers to stay up for a good amount of time. They go down a lot. I feel like they go down to much for us to rely on if since we are not a site that has to do with the actual trading and betting of items.

Source on steam going down alot is helping run Ocu.tf

I like the idea of giving users something for participating in ALs. Maybe weekly raffles for unusuals or something. But paying for ALs using scrap and/or items really sounds like a pain in the ass for everyone.

What if its just like a deposit you make to play AL ? That would make trolls and ragequitters think twice before leaving!

and once there are 6 scraps aquired from rq with this method they are given as prize to winning team in 6s
also im not a big fan of raffles but these scraps could also be given to random people playing in AL maybe

Well yeah its a pain in the ass but just because something isn't easy doesn't mean it isn't worth it. You don't have to pay anything out of pocket, you could just have it as a pot that people have to put in to join. Can be on a first come, first serve basis or weekly sign ups. All kinds of different things. You also don't even need to have it automated. You can make it to where you have a guy or 2 dedicated to giving out the prizes after the AL's are done. Honestly the whole trading thing with steam isn't that hard to figure out. May take time to set up but it can be done. Very easily done.

Lets come up with some positives and solutions rather then just coming up with problems and complaining about the work that might have to be done to make it work.

Integrating items into center is an interesting idea by itself. But as it is presented, is unrealistic.

Obvious problem with that is there's no fair way to determine 'best players'. Unless you want to just always give items to the winning team medic. Which would probably be good, considering no one likes to play medic.

Archiving. Please submit another form if you would like to bump this idea.

It's been fun, thanks for the ride.
