My speakers make a noise upon loading particular pages. Through my laptop speaks it just comes out as a tiny pop, but through my 7.1 headset it comes out as a skull-piercing zap. I'm worried it could be damaging to my equipment.

It happens consistantly on:

It never happens on:
It's also worth noting I get the same issues in Google Chrome.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Center.

Have never seen this.

Let's see if anyone else has any ideas?

I have (I think) the exact same issue when I have tf2 and any page that has sound open at the same time. This extends beyond tf2c as facebook, youtube etc are affected.

snd_restart in your console will fix it, just bind a button to that. I don't think tf2c could resolve this without removing all audio across the site.

I googled around a bit and found someone that apparantly had a very similar problem:

http://www.tomshardw...headphones.html

Well, in his case it's a PC and not a Laptop.

Of course it's very unlikely that the manufacturer messed up something with the wiring.. But if it's an older laptop where the warranty has already expired it's worth a try.

At least it sounds plausible to me that it has something to do with the wiring.

Loading those tf2center-pages you mentioned puts a very high load on my laptop-cpu, meaning it pulls a lot of power for a short period of time.

And the magnetic field from that high electric current could put some kind of interference in your sound-cables if they are too close to the CPU or are shielded insufficiently.

I don't think it has to do with the sound on tf2center itself.

But you could verify that by muting the tf2center-tabs (click on the speaker-symbols in the tabs in firefox or chrome) and trying to reproduce those noises.

I tied to reproduce the issue on other sites like Youtube, but even after putting myself under an intentionally high cpu load, it still doesn't happen. It seems to be only TF2C, even when I have one tab open and Waterfox is the only program running.

My CPU isn't even that bad anyway: Intel Core i7-4700MQ CPU @2.40GHz

Does TF2C use a different audio codec that my system finds less efficient perhaps?

It's also worth noting that i didn't always have this issue. And I have not rewired my laptop since. Now that I think about it...did this happen around the time I switched to Windows 10? Hmm.

Maybe it's a Windows 10 thing! I just remembered my bud Smiley aka Lava ( http://forums.tf2cen.../7408-lavanine/) is having the same issue and is also on Windows 10. Plus he has some crazy desktop rig so I know the CPU can't be a factor.
