I'm not a fan of this idea, there are many times I join lobbies as Heavy depending on the Medic.

i.e. Me and my friend like to go Heavy Medic together on lobbies, if this feature was enabled, then it would ruin it for me and her. Yes, you can argue "just don't join a lobby with this feature enabled" but is this really necessary? If the lobby leader feels there is a stack, they can take action themselves rather than having a randomized feature enabled as soon as they create the lobby.

What are you suggesting?  That lobby leaders just start kicking people from their lobbies if there is a stack?  Because that's about the only action I can see that they have available to them to do anything about it.  Not all lobby leaders are going to know if there is a stack (most of us don't take the time to check everyone comp profile for div.)

As long as there is only an option, and not a requirement for lobbies to be like this the argument of people wanting to play with friends does not make any sense (though I do understand wanting a friend on your team when playing a combo class) since you are not required to join the lobby with that enabled.

Well yes, if a lobby leader can't see for themselves that one team is full of people wearing the same tag, or people complaining about a team stack in chat, then it really is down to the lobby leader imo, this is all part of leading the lobby that you created, you should not need a randomizer to do this for you.

Also having this option will end up increasing the problem of having slow-to-fill lobbies since people will then most likely open a 2nd lobby that does not have this feature enabled, then both lobbies will be competing with each other.

A lobby leader is someone who has access to a server and is kind enough to share it with everyone here.  It is kind of absurd to expect them to sit and stare at the lobby screen and police what team everyone goes on too.

Oh wait ... I guess this doesn't even matter since this topic is apparently about the lobby filling problem, sorry I didn't realize that before.

I'm voicing my opinion, I feel that a lobby leader is responsible for who joins their lobby, and yes, the filling problem is something that would be directly affected by this topic.

Practically, lobby leaders have very little influence over team composition. I sometimes ask people to swap teams and kick them, and it usually works, but it's too much to ask of lobby leaders in general.

Agreed, apparently while everybody else is joining lobbies and then going off and playing a game, or watching TV, or doing something around the house those of us who are already kind enough to spend our money on a server and share it with these people are supposed to be dedicated to making the game balanced.  Clearly this guy is probably one of the people who doesn't actually create lobbies him/herself but rather wines in chat going "pls creat X lobby" repeatedly.

i.e. Players from both teams before ready up phases are scrambled (with their same classes) according to games played in tf2center which'll therefore develop a good balance of inexperienced/experienced players on both teams in order to avoid "Stacking" (i.e when one team ends up having a lot of players with numerous games on tf2center and the other team just has inexperienced players with the odd experienced player).

Well it normally helps in chat...last night there were literally no eu lobbies for 5 mins, people moaned in chat, 3 appear...

I've played over 300 lobbies but barely use this site any more because of the team balancing problem. At this stage it's obvious that no solution is being attempted. So, goodbye, I guess.

Actually, a solution is in the works. But if you've ever worked for a project like this, you'd know that implementing anything is quite difficult and time consuming.

It doesn't look good. You had Gentleman Jon write an epic report on the problem but recently kkaltuu was still championing Trueskill. What is your actual solution?

I would've learned the web stuff and rolled out something 80% good by now. But I'm just one guy, so can do things much quicker than a committee.

I have a suggestion for a new type of tf2center lobby.
It's basicly a crossing between a mix and a lobby.
Everyone joins their respective classes untill there are 2 of each class after which the website automatically mixes all players up to form 2 teams.
An option to this is to even out the hours/lobbies played. For example 8 people have <1000 hours and 8 have >1000.
The site mixes them up so both teams have 4 players of <1000h and 4 of >1000h

I'm kind of tired and really bad at writing these kind of things, feel free to edit it to make it more understandable.

fraac, the problem isn't implementation, it's design. Having a rating system is cool and all, but what do you do with that?

Either way, there is stuff in the works that'll make you happy.

Rumor has it that Valve is planning for a "skill rating" matchmaking system, most  likely a new Cvar.

What implication of this on the TF2center, Can we make use of it?

YOU USE IT TO PICK TEAMS THAT AREN'T GUARANTEED TO 5-0. Omfg how does nobody there understand this perfectly simple problem?

Make and option on server creating windows named "Auto balance". When people join lobby, they don`t select team , but just take a slot i.e. 4 scouts,4 sollies,2 demo,2 meds. When everybody are ready, website auto assign players to teams according to lobbies/hours plied.

This is how my mixes worked. They can't do it here because it would be a totally different interface.

How would this work? There a lot of high level players that don't play tf2 or lobbies a lot. Also, someone could have high hours and lobbies but they may be awful at the game. Not only to mention lobbies are casual in their current state, and i know it isn't fun to play a lobby where you get rolled, but there is no reliable system to detect skill level

If its a different interface, how will it possibly work
