The redirect after logging into my steam account gives me a blank screen and no indication of what is happening, pelase help!

Same here.

408 Request Time-out

Your browser didn't send a complete request in time.

 

It said that at one point after clicking sign in and getting redirected back to tf2center.

A 4xx response means your browser somehow messed up. Try using Incognito mode, as it'll disable any plugins that might be interfering.

If you are using google chrome you should disable all plugins/add-ons you  have active, once you logged in you should be able to put them back and be still logged in for tf2c, the incognito tricks works perfect but it doe snot remembers you so you would have to login over and over again.

I have the same problem, it just started today (i played for few weeks before), i already tried incognito mode, the same thing happens. It shows this error:

503 Service Unavailable

No server is available to handle this request.

Sometimes, if tf2c is down for maintenance or there is the rare outage, you will see this.  Just come back later, pretty much.  It's what I do.
