I admit it. Sometimes when i'm in a lobby struggling in general or getting tempered I want to leave the game (as a means to not waste time playing a game that's doomed to failure or avoid breaking something). Knowing that rage quitting affects the general perception of you (i.e. OMG that guy has such a low reliability pls kick...) I simply just rep myself and then leave the game, keeping reliability relatively intact and avoiding getting more rq's on my profile. What I'm getting through here is that its relatively easy to bypass the rq system by simply repping yourself first then leaving the game. I don't know if this method has been used by other players in the past but I feel like there needs to be some sort of way to still punish players like me that use the rep system as a way to rage quit and still not have rq's on their prof or their reliability affected. I can't think of anything specific, but I feel like the site devs should consider this possibility and come up with an effective solution some way or another. Thanks.
Using self report as a means to avoid rage quitting...

They changed it recently so that it counts as a ragequit if you don't wait for a sub to actually replace you, if you leave earlier it triggers the ragequit counter.
I think that is good enough.
For the ragequit counter, as far as i know the dev team isn't too happy with the name and are looking to change it to something like "Disconnects".
Not every lobby that you leave mid game is an actual ragequit and since you were able to completely bypass the Ragequit counter it isn't exactely exact.

Give ragequits disconnects if people rep theirself and leave instantly. But if people rep theirself and stay untill the sub arrives, don't punish them.

I like this idea; maybe combine with a limited number of times we allow this to happen, say n % of played Lobbies per week/month. So just to make sure we're talking about exceptional cases where people's houses are on fire etc...

time penalties for single disconnects and higher sanctions for multiple disconnects are required to get this problem solved.
if ones house is burning, you are not about to play in the next 30 mintues or smth

there is literally no lobby that requires reliability % so u can just reagequit as much as u want there will be no punishment !

Reliability is something that has never worked. We just copied that from TF2Lobby. What does work is Mumbility; so at some point we will replace reliability with actual cooldowns. But that is long term tho...

Not sure if that's really necessary. I mean, if a sub replaces the player that have to leave straight away, it doesn't really affect the game at all. Unless it's a medic that is holding uber or an engie that's losing his sentry gun or something similar. I don't think you should be really punished for it.
Giving penalties (cooldown periods are pretty effective imo) is probably one of the best things you can do to prevent players quitting midgame.

I cannot agree at all.

It is getting worse every day..
People are repping themself and instantly quitting all the time.
Often the games are 7 or 6v9 then, which means the lobby is basically dead.
We *really* need cooldowns, this problem is making so many lobbies unplayable.

Wouldn't a better question be, "how do we reduce the number of lobbies that are so crappy that people want to leave?"

Are you planning to do something about this problem?
So many lobbies get ruined by people that just rep themselves and ragequit - and they get no punishment for this at all.
It's really frustrating, and it's getting worse everyday.
If they would wait for sub, that would be okay. But nope, they just quit and then we have 6vs9 or something like that, resulting in the entire lobby to fail.
