To reduce getting flamed by the person you reported the ban for.

Makes sense, though I'm not entirely sure how that works on the forums (technically that is).

Every time I've requested somebody be banned, they will always just ban me from any lobbies they make in the future as soon as they see my name so that they can just break the rules again and not be reported. Anonymizing reports would probably help with this.

This one is a no-brainer. When ban requests are submitted, they need to be made private due to retaliation concerns.

The evidence/justification should probably be made public.

I have personally been harassed after both successfully, and unsuccessfully, requested bans against others on TFC.

There is, however, the issue of being able to defend yourself against an untrue claim. In that respect, a defendant needs to know and have access to the evidence being used against them.

This isn't a court of law. It's just TFC. But, both sides need to be taken into consideration.

The problem could be that when someone reports an other guy, even if he's anonymized in the forum, the proof can contain enough informations to guess who posted the complaint in a first time.

A player posted about how he was flamed by an other guy. If you only anonymize his name in the forum, we could still guess who he is.

Maybe adding a selection for the nature of the disruption (personnal/whole lobby) could filter in a second time what could be a private/public ban request post in a first time.

Aside from technical point of view, extended ban or any sentence could be a proportionnal response to such a behaviour.

I would like to bring up this topic again since center is becoming more and more popular. Retaliation is a real problem and the only way to do it is to make the ban reporter anonymous. Since we only use forums to report bans we might need a different ban system. But either way I don't see this system being implemented would hurt anyone.

I'm afraid that it isn't quite possible with the forums we have at the moment. We'll try to figure out if there's another way of doing it, but it'll have to be convoluted.

Let's talk about this today at least during mod meeting. The tools we use shouldn't restrict us from doing things how we want to do them.

For the record, we did discuss this during our meeting: without giving too many details, our staff is looking into making this possible. Among other things, we want to change the way people post on these threads.
