Often lobbies take a while to fill -- sometimes reaching 45min-1hour. In these instances, lobbies have a harder time to fill often due to players becoming bored and leaving.

A solution to this is to allow players that have joined the lobby to "pre-join" the server -- this allows players to participate in Soap DM, jump around the map, practice role-outs, etc.

This would encourage players to remain patient to play in the lobby, hopefully increasing the number of successful lobbies.

What is you join a lobby, prejoin the server then the leader decides they don't want you anymore? They would have to kick you from the game too.

Problem here is people who arent even going to be in the game have the capacity to get in and ruin it.

To your first point: rcon kickall -- additionally if the host decides to create a new lobby there is the option "kick all players from server"

To your second point: currently as it sits players that are not in the lobby are automatically kicked by rcon indicating that they are not a lobby player.

Why not just practice in a pub while you are waiting?

Or MGE. How about a TF2C supported MGE server?

Why would we need one of those? There are plently of decent MGE servers already.

Good point.

Though it seems there should be a way to encourage players to MGE (the other best way to get good). Perhaps contact some people with existing MGE servers.

To play with the people you're lobbying with.

Good point.

Why do we need to encourage players to play another game mode?

This is to get lobbying players to lobby and play together.

Though if you're in the server before the lobby start, you'll basically just DM or toss sandviches around.

Excessive over complication of lobby idea.
