Posting it here as I feel it doesn't fit "suggestions" or "community support".
A long while ago I started creating lobbies with unique maps. I made a koth_highpass lobby and received a short ban for making a "troll lobby". I'm not complaining that the ban was unjust, afterall it was a 1 hour ban a year ago, but I can't see any mention of the cutoff point from a map being anywhere in the rules.
I don't want to name anyone specific, but some people have been listing maps such as "cp_dustbowl" and "cp_dust2".
I'm curious as to where the cutoff point is. When does a map become a troll? There's a TF2C achievement for playing in "unpopular" maps. I would greatly appreciate some transparency as to which maps are appropriate.

I would actually enjoy playing an odd Dust Bowl here and there.

We feel that cp_dustbowl is simply not competitive and have restricted this along with goldrush, hoodoo, 2fort, and a lot of other pub maps. This has ever been the case since 15 months.
When our community grows smaller, a few problems arise with this:
- In order to prevent too many open (and not filling) Lobbies, we had to introduce "Lobby slots" (max Lobbies open per region/game type)
- In order to keep people happy, less popular maps will cause a Lobby to fill slower
In short, we try to allow most maps in order to be flexible and keep everybody happy; also, try to understand the things stated above and make sure Lobbies actually fill. So, if you would like to experiment, make sure you bring enough friends ;-)
