A command that allows to report players if they don't join mumble in a mumble lobby, for example as Medic. It would not report them (as a sub player report), but ban them from joining mumble lobbys for maybe 1 hour or longer. That way Tf2Center doesn't need to connect steam id's to mumble id's in order to keep track of players no joining mumble.

TF2C doesn't do anything about players not joining mumble anyway.

I don't know really, I agree it's a lot more work for the mod team to review ban cases for players not being in mumble, but it's something that has to be done. There will be a lot of reports for the first month, but once players start noticing bans for mumble this number will decrease as they will make sure to join mumble. I think first reported offenders should get banned just for 12 hours since it would be a newly enforced rule then continue to 24.

To be honest, like I said on the other thread, I think there should also be an auto-report system for players who don't join mumble in a mumble required lobby.

The devs are looking into a more elegant and long term solution.

More elegant than an auto-report or auto-reliability modification?

My bad, I meant more elegant than having to report people.

No problem. Just wanted to clarify what you were talking about. I'm fine with my ideas being inadequate; I understand that I do have a limited perspective on a lot of these issues. As usual, though, I just want to help out and come to a solution.

I could care less about elegance.  What matters is will it be effective?

You're going to be very disappointed in any dev then. Devs usually care a great deal about elegance.

So far when i have spoken to Tf2Center admins, they told me the main problem would be that it is difficult to connect Steam and mumble profiles. I don't know if there is yet a solution for this, or what you mean "with something mor elegant", but i am with TOaFK-i would like something effective.

It's effective to have every player in a game report who is in mumble and who isn't. It's not elegant because it's not maintainable, open to abuse and an added step for players that most wouldn't do. It's about finding the balance.

While I can't promise dates, we'll be looking at mumble in the quite-near future so watch this space.

That's not really that effective though seeing as how most of the time when I try to get people to kick someone for not being in mumble they respond with "It's only a lobby who cares."  and then I get !Repped for repeatedly un-readying the team due to the fact that if it is a mumble req'd lobby and not everyone is in mumble then we are not ready.

There's also the other day when I was in a lobby where there were three of us in Mumble, even if those other two were willing to rep we would have been short a 4th to rep the entirety of our team.

At this point I'd be happy with a system that let me leave these lobbies without penalty since they are a waste of time, even if letting these people do it without repercussions will only encourage them to keep doing more of the same at least I wouldn't have to stick around for my team to be rolled due to no comms.

As a note for the devs I don't think it should be so difficult to link the steam and mumble and lobby information. All that should be needed to be done to verify that it is the correct person is a matching IP. There is of course the corner case of someone using a different IP to connect to mumble than they are to connect to the TF2 server or lobby, but I don't think that happens very often if at all.

Indeed, we have proven to match players in Mumble to the actual players on the site. Also, we have been monitoring our Mumble server where it takes a snapshot every minute. This enables us to retroactively implement a feature we like to call "Mumbility". As my co-dev stated earlier, we're not going to give out any dates, but this will be one of our top priorities once the official release is out.
