Personal Description

I'm a Computer Science student currently studying at the University of Wisconsin at Platteville. I've enjoyed TF2Center when I've used it and have always found the service very user-friendly. I've recently become more interested in the community surrounding TF2Center, which I've now come to realize is a fair bit larger than I originally thought. The reason I'm applying to become a member is so I can keep up with what is going on in this community and with TF2Center as well as offering my help in any way I can. I'm a decent programmer and, although I may not have much experience (if any) with what is being used to develop TF2Center, I would like to offer my help as a developer. I understand that this could potentially take a long time or may not even happen considering there would probably be a lot for me to learn before being able to help in any meaningful way (although I am definitely willing to learn). But if there is anyway I can help with this amazing project I would love to be part of it.

Programming Information

Unfortunately I don't have a lot to show for myself. Most projects I've worked on are some combination of unfinished or failing to exemplify me as a programmer. To make up for this I would be willing to show my programming ability in some other way. I started programming at a very basic level in a version of pascal for an obscure macro program. At the time I was very young and only learned it out of necessity of wanting to use the program in a more advanced way. I had no idea that it was in pascal at the time or that I was actually writing a script in a programming language (nor do I remember how to use that language now). Shortly after this I gained interest in writing scripts in Lua for a game called ROBLOX. I became quite proficient at this and did it well for quite a while. This is where I learned quite a bit about programming and learned to enjoy it. When I stopped playing roblox and got into other games such as TF2 I started learning to do things with different web languages and making various tech-demo-y type sets of web pages mostly as experiments for myself to figure out what I could do in them. I used languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, etc. to make these. I also took various computer science classes at my highschool around this time and did a lot of personal research about web development around this time. Toward the end of highschool I made my first venture into languages such as C, C++, Basic, Java, etc. It was during highschool that I decided I would be interested in making a career out of programming and decided to go to college for computer science. I ended up going into college as a Software Engineering student, but recently have decided that I would rather be a Computer Science major and switched. I've learned a lot about programming and programming theory over the course of my interest in it, and hope to remain interested in it for the rest of my life.

I hope to meet more of the community soon and hope to some day be able to help out here.

Why do mathematicians confuse Halloween and Christmas? Because 31 Oct = 25 Dec!

I don't mean to double post on my own thread, but I don't believe I'm able to edit my most recent post. (If someone with the proper permissions could merge this and the last post that would be fine.)

I don't mean to be intrusive or anything, but I was wondering how the member approval process normally goes. I don't see much here on the forum about it. Anyone willing to explain or share their experience?

It depends, members are recruited in portions. It probably won't be long, but it varies.

It's something the admins deal with, and they have a lot to deal with.
