I have been away from Steam and Team Fortress 2 for a long time; several months, probably. But, this past week I decided to install it all again and play over the summer, since I had a few hours a day to spare.
After a few hours on TF2, I began noticing a lot of freezing and legging in-game. Closed Steam, scanned for malwares and all that "virus hunting" procedure. Found a few trojans, deleted them and went on restarting the PC and had not played since. This was about 2 days ago.

Today, I cannot connect to any server over a message saying my account has been banned due to a cheating infraction.
I am not even that good of a video-game player and certainly have no idea how to cheat. I just play for fun.
Googling, I found a VACbanned web site saying my account was banned and noticed it on my steam profile as well.

I have no idea what's going on and am not sure if this is the right place to write this, or if this had anything to do with those trojans, but I'd like if someone could give me a help and maybe explain how this works.

Thank you in advance.

VAC bans are placed by valve, either through automatic detection or by manual players being reported. You'll need to go to Valve's customer services to dispute it, sorry!

Though I can see that TF2Center might be misleading :P
