Hey, so up until tonight me and a few of my friends from school or other teams were able to play together in a center, however the new requirement for hours played makes that impossible. Back when lobbies had the OPTION to require hours it worked fine. However the new system makes it so my friends will have to textmode idle for about a week or so before we can play again. If the requirement could be fixed at 50-100 hours it would at least make it so you can't constantly join centers while being a detriment to your team.

Was there a particular reason behind introducing the new requirement? My opinion on it is that if center wants to bridge public and competitive that they allow a decent amount of the player base (that being 100-300 hour players) to participate as long as the lobby leader doesn't lock them out.

The minimum hours was implemented to fix a few issues:

- Players using alternative accounts to grief, cheat or get around server bans.

- To increase the quality of lobbies. A player with 300 hours shows some understanding of the game compared to someone with say 50 hours.

The minimum hours figure is not exactly fixed and we can change it based on feedback. We understand this change may alienate some players with low hours. As this is a competitive lobby website, a player with any less than 300 hours could cause problems in lobbies and create unnecessary tension between players either getting themselves unfairly kicked or banned etc.

We may look at introducing a feature to allow lobby leaders to allow players under 300 hours to play in their lobbies, but right now our focus is on getting out of beta and supporting the established experience player base and pugging communities.

I do encourage you and others to post your thoughts on this system and we will listen to all constructive suggestions.

TF2Center staff has decided that this number should be reduced to 100 hours. This will be effective immediately.
