I would love to see a more welcoming way of joining the competitive format for TF2. Right now it seems like anyone who plays lobbies are surpassing the 1000 hours or 200 games. That can be intimidating for people who are transferring from pubs to lobbies. I would love to see lobbies made for only low skilled players. Then after x amount of games you can join any lobby of your choice. This may come with advanced lobbies but there is real safe zone for lower skilled players. These lobbies could be similar to newbie mixes but, these can be at anytime instead of one night a week. I would like to see how people would respond to a lobby format like this.

TL;DR

Low level lobbies to get new people to feel comfortable to the competitive format. Almost 24/7 instead of newbie mixes

Low level lobbies/Newbie lobbies have already been suggested. Staff are planning to run these lobbies soon in events.

It's been fun, thanks for the ride.

plz tf2c is not competitive. if you don't play on the level then get my plugin and watch for people stars. making another bracket is impractical and will divide the community. forcing other players to wait on level queue is unjustified.

Well, TF2C really is closer to 'real' competitive than that bullshit of Valve, don't you think?
I use the plugin, it's been proven very handy, but... You know, you can't prevent higher skilled players from joining a lobby which is even almost full of beginners, and that can change the tide of the battle significantly. (taking out medic)
As far as I know there is no cap of MAX lobbies played on the lobby cration page, only minimal... I think just adding the max limit would come in handy, but alt accounts are left in question, though I doubt anyone would create an alt account just to spoil beginners' matches.

+1 on this

I mean, I've seen people with 1000+ lobbies suck ass at the game. So I'm not sure where the limit would be good to land. But I honestly think something like this would be a good idea. Except it would have to be very individual whom you consider lower-tier... Maybe people that have never been enrolled in a UGC/ETF2L team (w/ matches n stuff), or are like iron/lower-bracket open:? Then again unless we ban doing this w/ alts this will be hard.

Another suggestion would be allowing to set upper limits in a lobby as Jaros suggested, but again, alts are a problem.

@Jaros I think someone actually would do it unfortunately. Seen some people show trolling like this on YouTube, and when it becomes a thing it may become more frequent. It's either set rules against it or...

1000+ is not the problem. IMO you shouldn't really be playing a 6s pug until at least 800, which isnt that far from 1,000.
The real problem is playing against people with 3,000, 5,000 or even 7,000+ hours. Those are the real intimidators.

The solution to this problem is not creating a 'beginner's lobby' option, it's adding a 'maximum hours' option which can:
) Only be applied to all classes on all teams to prevent stacking (excluding medic, can't really carry your team as a medic)
) Can only be dropped all at once, instead of class-by-class
) Has a corresponding min hours so there's a skill range: example, min 1000 max 2000

Remember, we're talking new to 6s here, not new to TF2.

I don't want to see more "concurrent lobby limit" reached.

Especially when only off-classing or non-mumble lobbies are up.

TF2Center does not have servers set up. You're free to host a lobby using a server you either own or rent anywhere in the world but TF2Center doesnt host servers.

There jsut needs to be regular lobbies created which are say 200 and lower only. So anyone above that limit can;t join. Or alternativly one for players with no competitive experience. Doesn;t stop them playing in normal lobbies but keeps it split up.

Yes this should be a feature. Then new players wont have their first competitive experience be a roll. But instead play against those of equal skill level and have an enjoyable time. One extra thing to add is that both teams get a "Buddy" someone who has more experience then them however the Buddy can only play classes like Heavy,Engi,Med and maybe scout.
