Ok, so I have a server that is plain-vanilla just for playing lobbies.

I'd be willing to add it to a donation pool to be used whenever I am not using it for scrims/matches/my own lobbies.

I bet there are a lot of people in the same boat.  Like they would donate their server for all hours < 8pm EST while they are at work.

I could pretty much care less what happens to the server when I am away.

This could be a cheap way to get a large group of free in-house servers.

I can do this with a few of my spare servers also..

One idea I had related to this is to make something similar yet different to serveme.tf: I have servers with a cloud server provider that lets you put up 1GB RAM servers for ~.02$. So upon someone's request the website would boot up a new 1GB RAM server with tf2 pre-installed on it, and let them use that for an hour before it shuts off. There are only two issues here:

- I'm still fleshing out the idea

- .02$ per server isn't much, but if I don't do some sort of donation that will start to cost me alot very quickly.

Pretty sure 1gb of ram is nothing for a game server. I know amazon medium instances run you about 16c an hour, and run TF2 like a champ with all manner of plugins and what not. I've found the small instances (8c an hour) run great for servers without plugins but otherwise get bogged down. This is all assuming 6v6 but I think the medium instances might be good for highlander.

It would be very cool to have some sort of system where you could set up an "account" with TF2C which when you spin up a server, it uses that bit of cash in there to spin up an EC2 instance and run a server for the lobby. Put a small markup on it and it could be used for supporting the server costs for TF2C as a whole as well, without being a fiscal risk on the TF2C team at all.
