Hello.

So today , i can't create any lobby , i have the "read timed out" message , and i just don't know why because my server works well , i've tried to update the server just in case , and it didn't work.

So yeah , if you have any idea about that issue , let me know , thanks.

Does the overlay pop up at all saying that it is initializing the server when you try to make a lobby?

Every time I try to create a lobby using servesj1.tragicservers.com:27015 (na.serveme.tf), It gets a little ways through the setup, then I get "Failed to initialize server: Read timed out". Help? I'm thinking about donating to serveme.tf to get access to the donate server, but I'm not going to if it doesn't work :/

Can you try using the IP address instead of the DNS hostname. You can find the IP by opening up a command prompt window and typing:

ping servesj1.tragicservers.com

The output will look similar to below:

Pinging servesj1.tragicservers.com [74.91.118.218] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 74.91.118.218: bytes=32 time=212ms TTL=48
Reply from 74.91.118.218: bytes=32 time=212ms TTL=48
Reply from 74.91.118.218: bytes=32 time=212ms TTL=48

Bolded text is your IP. Let me know how it goes, or add me on steam and I'll help you out :)

Seems to work out. Didn't test on that specific server, but lobby creation was much smoother than it was when I was trying with the domain name.

Thanks!

I lied, the issue is still present, but only on that san jose server. I can connect to the server fine, perhaps it's a bug resulting from conditions at the server?

I'm having the same issue. It wasn't an issue before the latest update to the site.

That generally means that it can't reach the server; Most likely your firewall is blocking it or the server isn't allowing rcon.

That's not the same issue. The error I'm having is "Read Timed Out."

Does it still create the lobby despite saying 'read timed out'? I get that occasionally too except it will create the lobby still.

I've been noticing the lobby already exists thing when it's not already there, however, in my case it goes forward and creates the lobby anyways.

I had an hour period Saturday where with the Dallas na.servme.tf servers kept having this error, and occasionally when it did go through I'd be greeted with what I think I remember being a read timed out error. When checking existing lobbies no similar lobbies existed on the page. Eventually somebodies reservation for the Chicago servers ended and we proceeded with that. Sorry I don't have a more detailed report, at the time I was just trying to get the lobby going.

Hello everyone.

I'd just like to clear up for everyone who may not have seen this thread that the "lobby already exists" bug is caused by our new system which prevents lobbies of the same gametype, map and location co-existing. I have heard reports of this system glitching however so I'm sure if this is the case the developers will work on it ASAP.

The "Read timed out" bug is a different bug that existed before this latest update to TF2C and the developers already know about the issue and are working on a fix for it.

Thank you all for your patience whilst we improve TF2Center
