So I just played a HL lobby where our team was clearly doing much better than the opponents. Our team's solution to this was to "let them cap" on purpose so the game lasts longer. I objected to this, since it defeats the purpose of a competitive game and the other team probably just wanted the game to end quickly as well.

Immediately people started throwing personal attacks at me, asking me "how many lobbies have you even played" and calling me an "it" because of my feminine voice. One person tried to argue that it is boring to play a game that doesn't leave the first point, which I understand but I think it is demeaning to let the other team cap on purpose so we can play for longer and still ultimately win without challenge.

In the end, about 3 people on the opposing team ragequit and we played the rest of the game 9v6 which sucked. I feel that at least if we had just finished the game quickly everyone could have just gone next game and tried to get less stacked teams next time.

It is not the first time that I see this happen, so I'd like to know what other tf2center users think of just letting the other team cap on purpose when they have no hopes of winning the game. What are your justifications for prolonging a game that 50% of the players just want to end? Is it because it's "just a lobby"?

As you mentioned, there actually isn't a point of letting them cap since they'll get smashed again afterwards. The main purpose of people doing this is basicallt because it's more fun for the winning team to play around with the losers and get better stats. We don't have a rule for this but my personal opinion is just letting it end.

On that note, we have recognised the disadvantages of team stacking and have already came up with a solution. Stay on the lookout :)

It's been fun, thanks for the ride.

I am glad to hear this. Looking forward to it!

Well, enemy team has it's own will. So why did they cap then? They had full right not to do so.
By the way, I am not the fan of unbalanced lobbies, as they are no fun at all, just one team getting slaughtered whilst the other team gets kills basically for free...
p.s. I don't mind girls playing this game, as everyone should be equal at least here, and only skill is what matters, isn't it?

If you think it is your graphics card running away on the menu screen then you should be able to set an fps maximum cap for the X3 exe either in your AMD control panel or using a profiler application such as RadeonPro.

At least doing that would eliminate or confirm that issue possibility. Also you could check for yourself what the fps values are in-game by using something like FRAPS.
