So I just played a HL lobby where our team was clearly doing much better than the opponents. Our team's solution to this was to "let them cap" on purpose so the game lasts longer. I objected to this, since it defeats the purpose of a competitive game and the other team probably just wanted the game to end quickly as well.
Immediately people started throwing personal attacks at me, asking me "how many lobbies have you even played" and calling me an "it" because of my feminine voice. One person tried to argue that it is boring to play a game that doesn't leave the first point, which I understand but I think it is demeaning to let the other team cap on purpose so we can play for longer and still ultimately win without challenge.
In the end, about 3 people on the opposing team ragequit and we played the rest of the game 9v6 which sucked. I feel that at least if we had just finished the game quickly everyone could have just gone next game and tried to get less stacked teams next time.
It is not the first time that I see this happen, so I'd like to know what other tf2center users think of just letting the other team cap on purpose when they have no hopes of winning the game. What are your justifications for prolonging a game that 50% of the players just want to end? Is it because it's "just a lobby"?
