So I've been playing TF2 for a total of 580 hours and I was thinking to start looking into competitive TF2.

I've been trying to keep myself away from TF2Center and Comp in general because I'm afraid I wont be good enough.

I'm now at the end of the line, I've been playing pubs so much that I don't see any enjoyment in it anymore. I join, topscore, win the round, dominate some people and leave. It just doesn't feel rewarding.

Another reason I've been keeping away from Comp is because of my age, which is only 13. I feel most people will most likely kick me because of this and my voice.

Is this something I should have to worry about?

Cheers,

Hello, BettrestGrammar!  :)

First of all, thank you for posting on the forums, it is highly appreciated.

TF2Center IS the home for you if you're determinated to gradually increase your potential as a player. The slogan of the website is "From Public to Competitive" and if you in fact do topscore and pub-stomp, I would personally say it's time to start investing into the serious and competitive side of TF2 and would advice you to. It's like everything in life, at first we might not be totally comfortable with a "x" situation but we will grow into it.

Regarding your worries for only being thirteen, there's good and bad news. The good is that is no set age to play! Yes, skill is not exponential to age - the more time you dedicate into something, the better you get, it's a fact. The bad news, is that the Internet doesn't have a good image of immaturity. Hopefully, you are not damaging and are willing to respect others.

This doesn't have to be a preoccupation for you if you're responsible for your actions - contribute to your team and show them wrong.

I hope to see you playing soon!

Thank you,

Tiago.

Thank you for the fast response.

I think I'll start looking into competitive TF2 then.

Thanks a lot!
