Bumping this since it's getting more and more traction with it being the format used for this year's annual Charity Mixup.

This isn't Arena: Respawn... this is standard arena. I contacted tf2mixup and asked if they would be willing to change the format to A:R for this year and there was never a response.

Question: Should this format come to be on TF2C, how could class restrictions be handled? Would there be support for lobby leader-initiated class restrictions, which in turn could be in turn implemented ingame? Or maybe an ingame vote? There would need to be some means of effective communication between both teams when approaching this specific aspect of this competitive gamemode, which may suffer in non-mumble-required lobbies.

That's the main issue with implementing A:R, it requires lots of additional design. Also, last I checked, the rules aren't uniformaly agreed upon. Once that is settled, we can have a meaningful discussion about the design.

Speaking of, there should probably be a splash page with the rules for new players. Just a thought.

My suggestion for the class restriction would be a vote system. Hypothetically, this could be using a fancy MT designed interface, which would be cool.

I would be in favour for this. The problem is, I suck at pretty much every non hitscan class/

All A:R pugs and the eGO tourney have kept with a basic set of rules.  Both teams choose to ban one class, and that class may not be banned in consecutive matches.  Medic cannot be banned.

Match lengths are 20min long and got for 3rounds of 3 different maps(may be hard to implement on tf2c(40long single maps?))

Vacc is the ONLY weapon that is banned due to blocking minicrits from point capture.

5 players a team; up to 1 of each class on a team

Teams win either by mercy rule(difference of 7 points) or when time expires at then end of 20min.

If teams are tied, match goes into a GOLDEN round where the winner takes the victory.

Hi guys! I REALLY didn't imagine that TF2 Center had a fanbase for A:R!!

To help you guys  I'll be posting this forum on the A:R group's discussion page "Where on the internet is Arena: Respawn". That way it'll catch awk's attention. Join the A:R Steam group to stay up-to-date with it, and also to participate in our weekly pugs!! That way, guys can experience the competitive format first hand!!

We host our pugs in conjunction with PBL(Pro Battle League) every Monday and Thursday.
